Alexander County Busted Mugshots: What They Mean
A booking record gets built when a jail processes someone after an arrest. It usually holds the name given at intake, a booking number, the arresting agency, and the time and place of the arrest. Charges, bond terms, court dates, and custody movements round it out. A booking photograph is just the ID image made at or near intake. Not every intake produces one. Release depends on the facility.
Alexander County has an odd custody route. Cairo Police, Tamms Police, the Alexander County Sheriff, Illinois State Police, or another agency might make the arrest. Yet the person often gets booked at the Pulaski County Detention Center over in Ullin. So the county sheriff is a key routing contact. The Pulaski records officer may hold the booking sheet and any photo that can be released. The Circuit Clerk keeps the later court file. Check the Alexander County departments page to confirm current county contacts before mailing anything.
- Booking
- The intake process that creates a detention record after an arrest.
- Arraignment
- A court appearance where the case and release conditions may be addressed.
- Bond
- A court-ordered condition for release while a case continues.
- Disposition
- The court result for a charge or count, such as dismissal, acquittal, supervision, or conviction.
- Expungement
- A court process that can require records to be destroyed or removed from public access when the law permits.
A screenshot of the official county departments navigation helps show the route that was reviewed. It does not prove that a page can never be added later. The practical answer is to check the live county site, then identify the arresting agency and the detention custodian.

The capture shows why a search for a made-up Alexander County jail roster would send a reader to the wrong place. A records route remains available even when an online roster is not.
Busted Booking Fields in Alexander County
Ask the custodian which fields exist and which ones can be released. One name plus a date range works far better than a blanket demand for every mugshot. Treat the field list below as a checklist. It is not a promise that each item is public or stored in one system.
| Field | What it can show |
|---|---|
| Name and alias | The spelling used at booking, plus an alias field when releasable. |
| Booking number | The facility identifier for locating one intake event. |
| Arrest and booking time | When the arrest happened and when Pulaski accepted the person. |
| Arresting agency | Cairo Police, Tamms Police, the sheriff, State Police, or another agency, if releasable. |
| Charges as booked | The charge entered at intake, with counts or statute numbers where public. |
| Bond and conditions | The bond amount or type and any public release condition. |
| Booking photograph | Whether a releasable identification image exists, when it was taken, and what source holds it. |
| Facility and movement | The booking location, release, transfer, discharge, or “not found” result. |
| Court information | A case number, court date, or division when the booking record includes it. |
| Verification notes | The date searched, source system, exemptions, fee estimate, and response date. |
Request age or date of birth only when needed. It helps tell apart people who share a name. Never republish a full birth date, home address, medical detail, juvenile information, victim information, or an immigration identifier. Before treating a third-party name match as the same person, compare the booking date, agency, facility, and case number.
"Photo available" does not mean "photo released." The Pulaski facility page makes no promise of a public photo search or display policy. A later state ID photograph in the Illinois Department of Corrections system is a separate record. Never relabel it as a county booking image.
Request an Alexander County Booking Record
The strongest official route runs through the Pulaski County Detention Center FOIA process. The facility's own page says it houses Alexander County inmates. Send a narrow written request using the facility's FOIA Officer instructions. Ask whether the search covers both current and archived Alexander County contract records. Charges may apply. Request a fee estimate before any cost is incurred.

- Write the person’s full name, the arresting city or agency if known, and a concrete date range.
- Ask for the booking number, booking and release times, listed charges, bond, transfer or discharge status, and any releasable booking photograph.
- Request an electronic response and an itemized fee estimate. The facility’s instructions ask for the requester’s mailing address and email.
- If a field is withheld, ask for the exemption cited and every reasonably segregable portion of the record.
- Keep the request, delivery proof, response date, fee estimate, and the source’s last-checked date.
Illinois FOIA generally allows five business days for a response. Extensions are permitted for listed reasons. That clock is not a promise a photo will come out. The Illinois Freedom of Information Act sets the written-request, format, fee, exemption, and review rules. Is the arresting agency unclear? Call the Alexander County Sheriff's Office at 618-734-2141 and ask which records custodian holds the event.
Cairo takes an extra step. State 911 materials list two Washington Avenue numbers. Verify the police records route at 618-734-2131 before mailing. For Tamms, confirm the right address by calling 618-747-2326. It could be the P.O. Box 69 route or the 425 Front Street entry. East Cape Girardeau needs a current agency check before any request is addressed. These quick calls keep a valid request from landing on the wrong desk.
Older records raise a separate question. No Alexander-specific public booking-photo retention period is published. Ask Pulaski or the arresting agency about the record's status. It may be active, archived, transferred, or destroyed under an approved schedule.
Note: A focused date range costs less to search and reduces unrelated personal information in the response.
Illinois Law on Arrest Photos and Corrections
Illinois 5 ILCS 140/2.15 is the key arrest-information rule. It calls for specified information to be made available as soon as practical and no later than 72 hours after arrest, including a name, age, address, photograph when available, charges, arrest time and location, arresting agency, and custody received, discharged, or transferred information. The statute does not create a live website, guarantee an unredacted record, or require a photo in every response.
Section 2.15 also allows withholding when disclosure would interfere with a pending or actually contemplated proceeding, endanger a person, or compromise facility security. Juvenile confidentiality remains controlled by the Juvenile Court Act. A separate provision limits certain law-enforcement booking-photo posts on social networks for lower-level offenses, with exceptions for finding a missing person, fugitive, or serious person of interest. That rule should not be turned into a claim that every lawful photo request is barred.
Read the Illinois arrest-information statute beside the facts of the request. A public record still deserves care. Do not sort people into a spectacle, treat a picture as a conviction, or repeat a charge after the court has changed the case.
The statute capture used for this project shows the 72-hour framework and its limits.

The image is a legal source, not a booking photo. The distinction matters when a person is trying to learn where a record lives rather than browse faces.
Illinois also has an anti-pay-to-remove rule in 815 ILCS 505/2QQQ. It addresses for-profit publication of criminal-record information, including arrest photographs, and restricts soliciting or accepting payment for correction or removal in covered circumstances. The statute describes documentation, timing, exceptions, possible damages, and attorney fees. Use the official anti-pay-to-remove text and do not pay an unverified service that promises a clean internet history.
The free first step is correction of the source record. Send a certified correction notice when the law calls for it, attach proof of a wrong identity or changed disposition, and keep delivery evidence. When a court grants sealing or expungement, use the current Illinois Courts expungement and sealing forms and follow the court order. A favorable court result does not automatically erase every copy, cache, or mirror, so source correction and search-index updates are separate tasks.
Note: A dead third-party URL is not proof of expungement, innocence, or legal clearance; only the court and records custodian can establish status.
How to Find Alexander County Busted Mugshots
No verified official daily Alexander County mugshot page exists to search first. Someone may have been arrested in one town and booked over in Pulaski County. They might have been released before any roster check. They could have been moved for another matter. Or they were never held in the county detention system at all. So start with the event itself. Ask who was arrested and where custody landed. Then follow the chain of custodians from there.
- Write down the full name, approximate arrest date, city, likely agency, and whether the question concerns county detention, state custody, federal custody, or ICE detention.
- Check the county and sheriff routes. The sheriff’s phone is 618-734-2141, but the profile is a contact route, not a public roster.
- Ask the confirmed arresting agency whether it holds the arrest report and which Pulaski request should cover the booking record or photo.
- Send the date-limited Pulaski FOIA request. Ask for the custody movement fields because a release or transfer can explain why no online entry appears.
- Use the Alexander County court route for the filed case and disposition. Then use IDOC, BOP, or ICE only when the person’s custody actually moved into that system.
The word "recent" needs a date behind it. There is no official posting cadence here. That means nobody should promise "today's Alexander County mugshots," a seven-day feed, or a live archive. A sharper question is a records request pinned to the arrest date, or to a seven-day window around it.
Where Alexander County Busted Mugshots May Appear
Start with official channels. The table keeps a record custodian separate from a news outlet and from any unverified third-party page. A "yes" in the photo column signals that a source may hold an image. It does not guarantee a current Alexander County booking photo.
| Channel | Photo or record | How to access and how much to trust |
|---|---|---|
| Alexander County Sheriff | May route an arrest record; no public roster was located. | Call 618-734-2141 and ask for the correct custodian. Official routing, not a live feed. |
| Pulaski County Detention Center | County booking, custody movement, and a possible releasable photo. | Use the FOIA Officer at 20 Justice Drive, Ullin. The current page has no public search fields. |
| Alexander Circuit Clerk and Judici | Filed case, hearings, warrants, and disposition. A court file is not a booking photo. | Search Judici, then confirm with the clerk at 618-734-0107. |
| Illinois Department of Corrections | State-custody record and state identification photo when disclosed. | Search by last name, IDOC number, or birthdate. It does not cover every county booking. |
| Local and regional news | Some stories include an agency or press image. | KBSI, KFVS, WSJD, and The Cairo Citizen are selective and event-driven. Check the source credit. |
| Mugshots.com | Third-party historical names or images on a located Illinois/Alexander path. | Located local path, not an official feed. Verify every detail. |
| JailExchange | Generic Alexander/Tri-County search content, with conflicting facility details. | Third-party page only as a lead. Pulaski controls the request route. |
Research did not verify an Alexander County, Illinois local section for Busted Newspaper, RecentlyBooked, Arrests.org, or Mugshots.zone. A wrong state or neighboring county result is not a match. The same caution applies to any page using the former Tri-County name or placing the facility at the Alexander courthouse.
A screenshot of an unofficial booking directory can show why a claim needs checking. It is included for source context, not as a face gallery.
The third-party recent-bookings view uses generic fields and an older facility name.

The correct takeaway is to compare the page against the official Pulaski facility page and its FOIA instructions before relying on a name or status.
Alexander County Busted Jail Roster Status
No public inmate search exists here. Neither the official Alexander County departments navigation, the sheriff profile, nor the Pulaski detention page offers a booking-photo endpoint, daily roster, or recent-bookings link. There are no verified public search fields to reproduce. That negative is still worth rechecking before any request goes out.
There is no verified sheriff mobile app either. Also missing: a jail-alert subscription, a booking RSS feed, or any county booking notification service. A real sheriff or city-agency social account, plus local news, can surface announcements, but neither adds up to a roster. Run every lead past the records custodian.
No official update schedule has been documented. The same goes for a photo policy, a retention period, or any app-only roster feature. Someone in custody may never appear publicly, for the simple reason that no page exists to appear on. A released person can vanish from every public view even though the booking record survives with the custodian. Third-party pages pose the opposite problem: one can linger online long after the source behind it has changed.
- Check the current county and Pulaski pages for a newly posted official route.
- If no live view is present, use the booking date, full name, and arresting agency in a written request.
- Ask whether the reply searched current records, archived exports, and all Alexander County bookings held at Pulaski.
- Compare the response to the court case and mark the source date, not just the page date.
Names can mislead you here. Historical records say Pulaski County Jail and Tri-County Justice & Detention Center, while the current official page says Pulaski County Detention Center. Use an alternate name as a search hint. Send money or a records request only after confirming the current official route.
Recent Busted Bookings in Alexander County
No official booking feed exists here. Alexander County, Cairo, Tamms, and the Pulaski facility publish nothing broken out by day or week, and there is no public archive or removal schedule. So a third-party site's "recent bookings" banner deserves skepticism. It promises a time window no official source backs up.
Give the custodian something workable when you file a request. Pick one arrest date. Or choose a seven-day span around it, or a single named month. Two clarifying questions help: does the arrest time differ from the booking time, and did a release or transfer fall outside your window? A tight request searches faster and skips unrelated names.
Dates behave differently by source. A news outlet like KBSI or KFVS may run a story days after the event, sometimes with an older agency photo. Court files demand more care: track the filing date, hearing date, and disposition date separately. On a third-party page, write down the displayed date and treat the result as unofficial.
Does an empty roster mean no arrest happened? No. A blank result can stem from a release, a transfer, a misspelled name, a different facility, or a juvenile or exempt record. It may simply mean no public roster exists. Ask the custodian directly instead of trusting a blank screen.
Note: A custody page can change after a person is released, while a court file or lawful records response may remain available through a different office.
Illinois DOC Photos Are for State Custody
The Illinois Department of Corrections search applies when a person is currently in an Illinois state facility or on parole. It accepts a last name, IDOC number, or birthdate, and partial names can be used. The state search is not the Alexander County jail route. A person can be booked at Pulaski and never enter IDOC.
IDOC public information can include the institution, current status, admission and release dates, sentencing information, and a state identification photo where the department discloses it. Completed sentences may require an archived-record search. State prison intake and county booking are separate events, so label an IDOC image as a state custody identification photograph rather than an Alexander County booking photo.
The distinction is especially important around Tamms. The former Tamms Correctional Center closed January 4, 2013. Its history does not make IDOC the current destination for a Tamms Police arrest. Use the confirmed arresting agency, Pulaski when the person was held there, and the court for disposition.
The IDOC search capture shows the state-level fields without presenting a person’s face.

Use a no-result response carefully. It does not disprove a short county jail stay, a completed sentence, federal custody, or a record held under a different name.
Booked, Released, or Moved: Where Records Live
Custody status decides where a record lives. A roster, where one exists, tells you who sits in detention right now. It cannot settle the case or stand in for the court file. The chain of sources below keeps county, state, and federal systems cleanly apart.
| Custody state | Best record route | What the result can and cannot show |
|---|---|---|
| Just arrested or booked | Arresting agency and Pulaski detention FOIA | Booking time, charges as entered, bond, and a possible photo. It is an charge, not a conviction. |
| Still in county custody | Pulaski detention records, if a current record exists | Custody or movement status. No public live roster was verified. |
| Released from county custody | Pulaski request, arresting agency, and court clerk | The person may no longer appear in a public view, but a booking or court record may remain obtainable. |
| Sentenced to state custody | Illinois Department of Corrections search | State prison or parole status and a state photo where disclosed. Not the county booking record. |
| Federal or immigration custody | BOP or ICE locator, with USMS limits | A separate federal status question. It does not create an Alexander County booking-photo archive. |
Two cautions on the federal side. A "released" result in BOP does not mean the person is free of every hold. Likewise, an ICE no-match proves nothing about a county booking. Match the system to the custody event, then compare the dates.
After the Alexander County Bust: Court Disposition
A booking record captures the moment of intake, nothing more. The court file tells you what happened afterward. Alexander County Circuit Clerk Carey L. Simmons publishes 618-734-0107, and the courthouse sits at 2000 Washington Ave. in Cairo. The Circuit Clerk profile links to Judici and a records-request form. The Alexander County Judici search may throw up a captcha; verify any important result with the clerk's office.
Search Judici by full name, case number, filing date, or another permitted field. Always compare the agency, the dates, and the case number, because a name match alone proves little. One case can end differently on different counts. A pending case has no final disposition, and a withdrawn warrant does not undo the original charge.
A few courtroom terms get mixed up constantly. An arraignment is simply an early appearance. A disposition is the outcome of a charge or count. Sealed means a court order limits access, while expunged follows a statutory process that can require agencies to destroy records outright. None of these words are interchangeable. For a question about your own situation, turn to the clerk, legal aid, or a lawyer.
ICE, BOP, and USMS Are Separate Systems
The Pulaski facility holds Alexander County inmates and U.S. Marshals Service detainees together. Its own page says so. Older audits trace the immigration oversight history. After FY2020, an ICE contract gave way to a Marshals agreement. That is facility history. It says nothing about anyone's current immigration status.
Three federal lookup tools exist. None is a county mugshot gallery. The Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal inmates from 1982 forward. The ICE Online Detainee Locator tracks people in ICE custody now, or those CBP transferred for over 48 hours. Exact-match information is required there. And under the U.S. Marshals photograph policy, public photos of federal prisoners are never released.
Use terms like "federal custody," "ICE detention," or "USMS hold" only when an official source backs them up. A surname proves nothing. So does a birthplace, a jail contract, or an unverified webpage. For a local Alexander County booking, go back to the arresting agency, the Pulaski FOIA route, and the Circuit Clerk.
Capacity Numbers Need Their Source Date
Capacity figures for the Pulaski County Detention Center do not agree. The facility's own webpage lists 240 beds. An Illinois Department of Corrections inspection checklist dated September 30, 2025 gives 205 capacity and a population of 103. Those numbers came from different documents with different purposes. Neither one is a live Alexander County roster count, so neither tells you who is in custody right now or how many beds are open.
Phone numbers deserve the same care. Most Pulaski materials print 618-845-3512, while the inspection lists 618-854-3512. That single-digit gap matters. Check the official facility page before you call, wire money, or show up in person, because a wrong number wastes a trip. It also explains why a third-party directory claiming the jail is closed, has zero beds, or sits at the Alexander courthouse address should never steer a booking search.
Alexander County Archives and Older Records
The Illinois State Archives IRAD Alexander County page provides courthouse history and a Southern Illinois University research route. The Illinois local-government holdings reviewed did not identify a contemporary booking-photo series. The archive can show what was transferred or retained, but it does not replace Pulaski’s current detention records.
For older newspaper coverage, the Illinois Newspaper Project Alexander search can help locate a Cairo-area article. Search by name, date, agency, and case number, then compare the story with the Circuit Clerk. A newspaper may omit the final disposition, use old facility names, or show an agency image rather than a booking photo.
The archive capture shows a historical search route, not a current booking database.

No county-specific public retention period for booking photographs was found. Ask the custodian whether an older record is active, archived, transferred, or destroyed under an approved schedule. A missing image does not establish the legal status of a case.
Busted Mugshots by City in Alexander County
City pages here serve one purpose. They point you to the arresting agency before you send a request to Pulaski. The population figures come from 2020 Census planning data, not arrest counts. Each city route keeps the county, detention, and court tracks separate, so nothing gets mixed up along the way.
- Cairo Busted Mugshots: Cairo Police is identified with 618-734-2131, but official sources show 1501 and 1513 Washington addresses. Verify the current records address, then check Pulaski for a county booking.
- Tamms Busted Mugshots: Tamms Police is listed with 618-747-2326 and both a P.O. Box 69 route and a 425 Front Street entry. The closed Tamms Correctional Center is not the local booking route.
- East Cape Girardeau Busted Mugshots: current 911 material does not verify a separate city police participant. Confirm the agency first, because a reported incident involved Massac County Jail rather than the Alexander/Pulaski path.
Whichever city you start from, the order stays the same. Ask the arresting office for the report. Ask Pulaski for the detention record if the person was held there. Then use the Circuit Clerk for the case outcome. Local news adds color, but no city page works as a mugshot gallery.
